I am establishing a blog, mainly to keep in touch with family members who are already great bloggers. Can I use entries I may write for my journal in my blog or visa versa? How would I do that — cut and paste?
Pyxlin Says:That would be a great way to keep things updated. Copy/Paste is very easy in our program. We are working on a direct blog import for the future, but it is still a ways off.

During my one week free trial can I publish my journal?
Pyxlin Says:You can publish at any time, even during your free trial.

I have many pdf files of online journaling I’ve done. Can I upload those to your site and get them in a book?
Pyxlin Says:At this time, we don’t print outside PDF’s. However, you could place your pdf, page by page into one of our books. We offer a photo page that is a full bleed - which means no margins. So it would be possible to replicate your pdf within our program.

Hi, I have a few questions:
Thank you for your interest in Pyxlin. Here are some answers for you:
1: do you have a page maximum? 600
2: do you give bulk book prices, so I could sell my book on my own? Yes, we substantial bulk discounts
3: how would I go about getting an isbn #? You will purchase one directly from ISBN.org http://www.isbn.org/standards/home/index.asp
4: do you only have the standard page size, or various sizes available? We have 5 book sizes available: http://pyxlinjournal.familylearn.com/tour/customize/ Scroll down to see the sizes pictured.
5: Could I design my own cover photos? Absolutely. You’ll see, on the customize link I just sent you, a book on the far right with a woman on the front. For that type of cover, we provide you with a size template for you to create your own cover design.

Does “permanently” in regards to journal storage mean for as long as you’re a paying member, or could I read what I previously wrote at times when I’m not subscribed? Like say I couldn’t afford it for a month or two… would everything be deleted, or could I come back to it? Or say I lost my print journals in a fire, and hadn’t been subscribed in a long while… could I come back, resubscribe, and reprint the journals?
Pyxlin Says: Great Question! Permanently, means Permanently. So yes, if you didn’t subscribe for while, you could come back and start up again. A copy of your printed book is also stored so that you can order a reprint at any time.

This is my first day as a Pyxlin user and I love it already! I don’t enjoy scrapbooking and I am not good about writing in a journal but I can type really fast. This will be a great way to combine my journal and scrapbook into one easy document that will be printed and bound professionally. Thanks Pyxlin, for helping preserve my memories!

It’s cool

So if I create a journal that is 480 pages long and has 460 pages of b/w photos/text and only 20 pages of color photos I have to pay $1 per page?
Pyxlin Says: You pay $1 for each of the 20 color pages. The 460 pages that are black and white are only 20 cents each. So your 8×10 book with 480 pages would only cost $127. This is an excellent price considering your book includes acid free photo quality paper and a lifetime guarantee on the binding.

In the pricing calculator it is unclear as to whether the higher price, “color”, refers to the total price including color pages, or just the color alone.
Pyxlin Says: Sorry for the confusion Jill. The color price refers to the total price of the book including any mixture of color and black and white pages. The black and white price is for a book with text and b/w photos only. Black and White books still have color covers, it’s just the inside that’s b/w.

This looks like a great idea and I am looking forward to being able to utilize your website. My question is; Obviously, this service is a service for one person, do you have a family rate for a year at a time? I would love to be able to use this service and have my children use it also. Please let me know if you have a family package. Thank you.
Pyxlin Says: We haven’t created a family package yet. That’s a great idea.

How many people can us this product if we sign up for it? Can more than one person use the service on the fee?
Pyxlin Says: As many people as you’re comfortable giving your email and password to. The subscription gives you one account, but you can create as many journals as you want. If you’re comfortable with your spouse having access to your journals, then you can both share. Great question.

Two questions: 1) How many copies of a journal can I have printed for children and grandchildren? 2) I already have an extensive journal in Microsoft Word. Can I transfer or copy this to your website?
Thanks, Neil
Pyxlin Says: 1) You can print as many copies as you’d like. There is no limit. In fact, you get a discount the more copies you order at one time.
2) You can absolutely copy your existing journal into Pyxlin. No need to retype the whole thing. Simply copy and paste. We are working to implement an automated Word import feature, but it’s not quite ready yet.

What exporting support do you have? Export to Word? To RTF? One entry per file? One month per file? Given the way internet companies come and go, and given good backup practices, it is not a good idea to totally depend on you to keep my journals around.
Pyxlin Says: Great question Gary. While we don’t intend to go anywhere, we do have backup methods for you. First, you can create a pdf of your existing journal as often as you’d like. Second, we back up all our data in 3 places. Even if we temporarily lost one, you’d still be in great shape. Third, we have all our data on the Amazon web servers. They are the largest internet company out there, so even if something were to happen to us, your data would still be available as long as they are around.

On my computer at home it runs really slow. Also, I looked up how much it cost to have the book , and it was unclear. It was also unclear regarding type fonts, or size of the book.
Pyxlin Says: 1. If things are slow, make sure you are using a supported web browser. Either Mozilla Firefox 2.0 or Internet Explorer Version 7
2. You will find the pricing in the journaling tour. Here is a link: http://pyxlinjournal.familylearn.com/tour/publish/
3. You can see information about our 5 sizes of books here: http://pyxlinjournal.familylearn.com/tour/customize/

so, how much will it cost to print it when it’s done? or…how much per page?
Pyxlin Says: See #2 of the comment above.
